ReforNations
Writing about Biblical Classical Education for several years opened doors to meet so many wonderful family-members-in-Christ, and form friendships with united hearts and purpose. God weaved our lives with Eric and Amber Holmertz, the founders of ReforNations. They’re missionaries in education to Uganda. Join me as I share a little about them in this post.

Eric shared about his family’s heart for the Ugandans and their efforts to take Biblical Classical Education to them. God is using the Holmertz family to share the gospel and help shape biblical worldview thinking among the Ugandans through long-term missions trips—an added need to short-term missions trips.
About the Holmertz Family
Eric and Amber have eight beautiful children. Including one set of twins! It’s amazing how God is using the unique make-up of this family, giving them the opportunity to share the gospel with Ugandans.
The Holmertz family has been using Biblical Classical Education for 14 years in their homeschool. Their hearts and minds have been transformed by God’s Word as they’ve implemented it in their homeschool. Through a series of events, God moved their hearts to form the missionary organization ReforNations. The organization’s purpose is: “Reforming the Nations Through Education.”
Serving in Uganda
The Holmertz’s served as a whole family in Uganda, for a season. However, Eric took some trips to Uganda without his family. They aim to raise funds to get their family over there again. I’d like for you to see some footage from one of Eric’s trips. Observe the interactions between Eric and our brothers and sisters in Christ in Uganda. Listen to the moving heart a father in the video as he expresses the kind of upbringing he wants for his children.
Reforming the Nations Through Christian Education
From the ReforNations website:
OUR PURPOSE: Our purpose is to counter the destructive ideas and influences of the world on every nation with the timeless truths of the Word of God, thus reforming the whole earth, through family-based discipleship and education.
Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines “Reform” as: To change from worse to better; to amend; to correct; to restore to a former good state, or to bring from a bad to a good state; as, to reform a profligate man; to reform corrupt manners or morals.(1)
ReforNations’ vision is founded upon Psalm 22:27-28, “All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.“(2) (ESV)
The Importance of ReforNations
ReforNations shares the gospel with Ugandans. For all of us, that’s just the beginning! After converting to Christ, we also need renewed minds by God’s Word, transforming us with a biblical worldview for all of life and learning. Biblical Classical Education affords this ability.
As a part of a thoroughly Christian education, ReforNations teaches Christian self-government so Ugandans can live independently, reliant upon God. This is significant because in many instances NGO’s become source of reliance, in addition to reliance upon government aid.
