The Epic Formula to Raising Bible Scholars
As a Christian homeschool parent, one of the biggest blessings about homeschooling is the ability to raise Bible scholars. Firstly, I want my children to learn about both the context and about the culture of passages that they’re reading. Secondly, I want them to be able to organize information to help them understand what they’re reading. Thirdly, I want them to build their Bible vocabulary. And last but not least, I want them to be able to Reason and Relate from Scripture. This is just one of the many benefits of homeschooling. If you desire this for your homeschool children too, then keep reading. Because as soon as you learn about this epic formula to raising Bible scholars, you’ll see how easy and important it is.
What Does Epic Mean?
Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines epic as, “…a poem… in an elevated style, some single action or series of actions and events, usually the achievements of some distinguished hero, and intended to form the morals and affect the mind with the love of virtue.”
Heroes in Learning
Would you consider yourself to be a hero? Most of us wouldn’t consider ourselves to be so. But… let’s take a look at Webster’s 1828 Dictionary definition of hero, “2. A great, illustrious or extraordinary person; as a hero in learning. [Little used.]“
A little used definition, eh? I find that highly interesting. No matter though. Once we understand that we, as believers, are God’s people and that we have a set apart (holy) purpose to be a light, we then understand that we are “extraordinary people”.
And as “heroes in learning,” we can help change one life at a time because we take the time to study, to learn Scripture and put into practice Yahweh’s instructions for how to live among each other, how to treat each other, and how to walk in obedience because of our of love and reverence for Yahweh. Choosing to do this, is choosing to be self-governed under Jesus the Christ… Yeshua HaMashiach… because He is the Living Word Who came to show us how to live Yahweh’s instructions for life.
